Acid mine drainage will be extracted from underground settlers using pumps to the treatment plant which will be on the surface.

The acidic water will be treated to remove heavy metals and then pumped to the water softening stage before going to the reverse osmosis membrane for brine removal.

The product of the reverse osmosis unit is the drinkable water as tested using the prototype.

The residual slag contains a considerable amount of gypsum which is saleable, and this will help to reduce the operating costs of the plant.
